An authentic market off the beaten track
The Mercat Pere Garau is located in the district of the same name, east of Palma’s old town, and is considered one of the city’s most traditional markets. Since its opening in 1943, it has retained its authentic charm and remains especially popular with locals. Here you can experience genuine Mallorcan daily life, far from the tourist crowds, and discover a more down-to-earth side of Palma.
Fresh variety from around the world
At the Mercat Pere Garau you’ll find a wide range of fresh products: fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, cheese and bread – much of it sourced directly from the region. The market is also well known for its Asian food stalls, which make it truly unique on the island. In addition, a large outdoor market takes place three times a week, offering clothes, household goods and flowers. A highlight are the food stalls serving homemade tapas and Mallorcan specialities.
A lively place for food lovers and explorers
The market is open from Monday to Saturday, but it’s most vibrant in the mornings. Locals, food lovers and curious visitors all gather here. Mercat Pere Garau offers the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in Palma’s everyday life, taste regional products and collect special impressions – a real insider tip for those exploring beyond the usual tourist routes.
Parken am Mercat Pere Garau
If you can’t find a space in the streets around the market, it’s best to park in the underground car park Parking Manacor. From there it’s about a 7–8-minute walk to the market. The great thing is that you can park here for a flat rate of €5 per day.
