The elegant boulevard in the heart of Palma
The Passeig des Born – often simply called “El Born” – is one of Palma’s most beautiful promenades. Lined with tall plane trees and historic buildings, this elegant boulevard runs from Plaça de la Reina to Avinguda de Jaume III. Originally a medieval riverbed, it was transformed into a grand promenade in the 19th century. Today, it forms the stylish centre of the old town and is loved by both locals and visitors alike.
Coffee, culture and a shopping experience
The Passeig des Born is not only architecturally impressive but also a lively meeting point. Along the boulevard you’ll find numerous cafés, restaurants and boutiques – from well-known international brands to elegant local shops. The wide central promenade with benches invites you to relax, especially in the shade of the trees on warm days. Cultural events, concerts and festivals are also held here regularly, giving the Born its vibrant atmosphere.
Historical charm with modern flair
Despite its modern ambience, the Passeig des Born has retained its historic charm. At both ends of the boulevard stand imposing lion sculptures that symbolically welcome visitors. Nearby are attractions such as the Cathedral La Seu, the Museu de Mallorca and the Royal Palace of La Almudaina – perfect for combining sightseeing with a leisurely stroll. Whether for a relaxed walk, a shopping trip or a glass of wine in the afternoon, the Passeig des Born is a must for every visit to Palma, reflecting the city’s elegant charm in a truly unique way.
