Anyone driving their own car or a rental car in Palma should definitely stick to the parking rules – because illegal parking or overstaying your paid time can quickly become expensive.
What counts as illegal parking?
- Parking in yellow-marked zones (no stopping)
- Parking in green zones without a resident permit
- Exceeding the paid parking time in blue ORA zones
- Parking in ACIRE zones without authorisation
- Blocking driveways, pedestrian crossings or bus stops
How much are the fines?
- Parking ticket for exceeding the time limit: usually €30–60, depending on duration
- Illegal parking or ACIRE violation: up to €90 or more
- Towing: around €100–150, plus the parking fine and storage fee at the towing yard
Parking ticket for exceeding the time limit
If you find a ticket under your windscreen wiper for exceeding the parking time, you can pay it within one hour for €6 directly at the parking ticket machine.
Otherwise, the fine is €30 – provided you pay it within 15 days. If not, the amount doubles to €60.
Paying your parking ticket
You can pay the ticket at any branch of Bankia, Caixabank, Banca March, BBVA, Colonya, Caja de Ahorros de Pollença or Banco de Santander.
It’s even easier online via the website of Palma City Council.
What to do if your car has been towed
- Look for a sticker on the ground at the spot where your car was parked. It shows the phone number of the towing service, which will tell you where to pick up your car.
- Alternatively, contact the Policía Local Palma by calling 092 or +34 971 22 55 00.
- To collect your car: bring ID, the vehicle registration (or rental contract for hire cars) and proof of payment for the fees on site (cash or card).
